Daily Transformation

โœจ Today's Reflection

๐ŸŽฏ Today's Challenge

Transforming Men. Restoring Families. Rebuilding Communities.

Vessels of Mercy Outreach Ministry (VOMOM) is a Christ-centered organization committed to the restoration of men through discipleship, accountability, and the transformative power of God's Word.

We walk with men from confinement to community โ€” offering spiritual guidance, practical support, and a path toward lasting transformation. We accompany men on their journey from incarceration to successful reintegration, supporting them in rebuilding their lives, families, and futures with dignity and intentionality.

We believe that when a man encounters Jesus, discovers his kingdom identity, and receives the right support, he becomes a vessel of mercy โ€” capable of changing his family, his community, and the next generation.

Who We Serve

Men who are currently incarcerated, recently released, or transitioning through faith-based structured supportive housing โ€” men who desire restoration, accountability, spiritual growth, and a path toward rebuilding their lives, families, and communities.

Why It Matters

When a man discovers his identity in Christ, everything changes โ€” his life, his family, his community, and generations after him. Thousands of men across North Carolina are seeking hope, discipleship, and a path to successful reentry. The harvest is ready.

Long-Term Goal

VOMOM is committed to establishing multiple faith-based structured supportive housing facilities across North Carolina, ensuring men receive continuous support from incarceration to full reintegration.

Vision & Mission

Our Vision

Vessels of Mercy: Reaching, teaching, and equipping men in prison to walk in their God-given purpose on earth. To see kingdom-minded men rise from incarceration and re-enter society transformed, empowered, and equipped to reach back and disciple others โ€” until every prison in North Carolina becomes a place of revival, restoration, and generational change.

Our Mission

To reach, teach, and equip men behind prison walls to discover their God-given identity, develop spiritual maturity, and walk in purpose โ€” empowering them to return as kingdom-minded leaders who reach back, teach others, and multiply transformation. This ongoing cycle of restoration will raise generations of kingdom men whose renewed lives restore families and restore communities.

Expanded Vision

Vessels of Mercy envisions a statewide movement where men impacted by incarceration encounter Jesus, discover their kingdom identity, and are transformed from the inside out. We see former inmates returning as leaders who reach back into prisons, discipling and sponsoring the next generation of men. Our long-term vision is to establish a presence in every prison in North Carolina, supported by structured housing and Christ-centered programs that restore families, strengthen communities, and build a legacy of spiritual and mental renewal.

David Vanstory

Founder & Director

David Vanstory is the founder and director of Vessels of Mercy Outreach Ministry. This ministry is a God-given vision โ€” literally. While serving his third sentence in prison, God gave David the vision for VOMOM right in his cell. From that divine encounter, the first service for inmates and ex-inmates was held in a church in High Point, NC, and the ministry was born.

David facilitates the InsideOut Dadยฎ program inside correctional facilities, helping incarcerated fathers develop the heart and skills to be present, effective dads upon release. His passion is seeing every man discover his God-given identity and walk in purpose.

"When the vision was given, I was in a cell. God doesn't wait for perfect conditions โ€” He works in the middle of your storm."

John Michelotti

Program Director

John Michelotti met David Vanstory inside prison and personally walked through all 4 phases of the VOMOM ministry model. Today, John is a living, breathing testimony of how the model works โ€” and he is now reaching back to help other men walk the same path he did.

John diligently works in the ministry, loves God and His people, and is running with the vision with excellence โ€” helping to expand VOMOM's reach across North Carolina. His story is proof that transformation is real, restoration is possible, and no man is beyond God's reach.

"I went through the 4 phases. Now I'm living Phase 4 โ€” reaching back so others don't have to walk alone."

Our Story

Vessels of Mercy Outreach Ministry was born not in a boardroom โ€” but in a prison cell. While serving his third sentence, God gave founder David Vanstory a vision for a ministry that would reach men behind prison walls and walk them all the way to restoration. The first service was held in a church in High Point, NC, bringing together inmates and ex-inmates around the power of God's Word.

The ministry grew, and along the way VOMOM worked toward establishing structured housing for men in transition. Through a partnership and subsequent merger with another prison ministry, they secured a home in Archdale, NC โ€” funded with VOMOM resources. However, the City of Archdale used the road where the house was located to build a roundabout, and the home was lost. Concerns about the ethics of the merged organization led VOMOM to quietly and honorably withdraw โ€” leaving behind everything, including the house, choosing peace over conflict so that no negativity would hinder future ministry to inmates.

Today, VOMOM is completely restarting โ€” with integrity intact, vision burning bright, and faith stronger than ever. The founder and program director chose the high road, believing that God's plan is bigger than any setback. The best is yet to come.

Note: You may see a home in our video. While we no longer have that house, we are diligently working and believing God for the next one. Our mission has never stopped โ€” only grown stronger.
